Mom's love of baseball followed her love of my dad, Lou Manzo. A huge Hank Bauer fan, she later rooted for Thurman Munson. In 1978 she joined us a Fenway for the famous Boston Massacre!

Fritz played 4 seasons in the NFL 1947 (5 Games) and 1948 (12 Games) with Boston Yanks, 1949 (12 Games) New York Bulldogs and 1951 (7 Games) New York Giants
Mom was a football fan too! During the years that mom and dad were dating, many Sundays were spent watching Fritz Barzilaukas. Fritz and his wife June were great friends of my mom and dad. When the Boston Yanks played in the Polo Grounds, Lou, Elaine and June were there to cheer Fritz on.

Mom had a 40-year hiatus from duckpin bowling. The last time she had rolled, there were pin boys at the other end of the alley to reset the pins. MS had ended her bowling enjoyment, but now at 68 she rolled her first ball, a strike - then the second frame, another strike, which was followed by a third strike – a turkey!
